Behind the Scenes

If it looks like our Father is doing nothing, and things seem to be getting worse, do not doubt this one thing – the Lord God Almighty is unquestionably hard at work.

It seems we argue about everything -- vaccines, race, religion, politics – name it and we will create an entire movement against it. Yelling, crossing our arms, refusing to budge, attacking others at every turn -- this does not make us stronger. Dissentions destabilize and undermine us as human beings – even in the church body. When there is division, there is weakness; there is confusion; and it is taking its toll on many of us.

Are you exhausted by unrelenting opinions and fear-fueled positions beating at your senses everywhere you turn? It feels like cyclones ripping our peace from the roots, the chaos making it natural to wonder when God will step in and save us. Is He even paying attention?

The world looks like a classroom of unruly third graders taking advantage of the teacher needing to step out of the room. Oh, but our teacher has not left the room. Never has; never will. Like so many times throughout history and in our lives, we will soon see that God is not so uninvolved after all.

Our Teacher has not stepped out of the room.

If it looks like our Father is doing nothing, and things seem to be getting worse, do not doubt this one thing – the Lord God Almighty is unquestionably hard at work. God is operating behind the scenes as He did for His chosen people, the Israelites.

When the Prophet Isaiah spoke of the virgin birth that was to come, there was a lot of trouble going on in the world, specifically in Israel and Judah. Israel was a divided people; the North and South were positioned as two great powers resulting in catastrophic unrest. Then the prophet reminded them of the God who never stops working on behalf of His people. And He had a plan.

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14, NIV)

God has a plan of hope, healing, and prosperity to bless His people. When you are blessed, the Word of God is glorified on the earth to do God’s bidding. Even now, our Lord is taking full advantage of every moment, good and bad, to produce all you require to engage in His purpose and enjoy your life.
